Description: Teaching laboratory with its instrumentation covers the scope of teaching of Analytical Chemistry and Practical Physical Chemistry for various study programmes of FMMR and TUKE. Electrochemical or optical instruments allow determination of analytes at lower concentration levels, thus creating space for assessment and comparison of applicability of various methods, e.g. in terms of the nature of the sample, limit criteria, requirements for analysis, etc.

Description: A scientific and professional laboratory whose instrumentation enables efficient digestion of solid samples of various nature (soils, sediments, biofilms, dust, solid wastes, multicomposite materials...), quantitative analysis of solutions in a wide concentration range, classical one-step and sequential extractions in the field of fractionation analysis as well as ultrasound-assisted extractions. The capabilities of the laboratory are used in a wide range of domestic and international projects. The laboratory is also used in the teaching of the course Modern Identification Methods, for the realization of bachelor, diploma and doctoral theses.

Description: A scientific and professional laboratory whose instrumentation allows qualitative/quantitative direct analysis of solid samples of different nature and origin (industrial oxide/non-oxide powders, soils, sediments, gravity dust fallout, drift) for the needs of various domestic and foreign projects, as well as for the teaching process within the framework of bachelor and diploma practicals, specifically oriented courses in the second stage of study at the FMMR, UPJŠ as well as doctoral studies.

Description: VThe scientific and professional orientation of the laboratory is characterized by research activities in the field of optimization and validation of direct and tandem spectral methods and their application in the field of environmental analyses focused on the determination of inorganic components - heavy metals in environmental components such as water, soil, sediments, biofilms, as well as in industrial materials (products, wastes). The laboratory is also used for teaching purposes at the 2nd and 3rd level of higher education in the framework of specifically oriented courses, which provide the student with a comprehensive picture of proper laboratory practice and adequate laboratory skills.

UV/VIS spectrophotometry laboratory

Technical equipment: multiparameter photometer, potentiometer, COD reactor
Description: A scientific and professional laboratory in which instrumentation enables the determination of parameters (inorganic components) in surface, drinking and waste water as well as the measurement of other important parameters characterizing solutions such as pH, ORP (redox potential), ISE, TDS, salinity, resistivity and temperature, which allows to obtain more comprehensive information on the composition and behaviour of solutions (their components) in laboratory conditions and natural systems. The laboratory is also used within the scientific and pedagogical activities of the department for the purposes of projects (VEGA, APVV), teaching (laboratory exercises in analytical chemistry, bachelor and diploma practicals) and flexible analysis of drinking water samples from private sources.

Technical equipment: Electrochemical analyzer Voltalab 50, HPLC analyzer, conductivity meter, potentiometer, pH meters, high temperature furnace, drying oven, electrocoagulation equipment, pulse generator.
Description: The laboratory is focused on the scientific research activity of the staff and the implementation of experimental work of students at all three levels of higher education. It is used to solve domestic and foreign projects.

Sample Preparation Laboratory

Technické vybavenie: equipment for metallographic sample preparation, Montasupal grinder and STRUERS polisher, bench-top light microscope, melting furnace up to 1200°C with resistance heating and control.
Description: The laboratory is designed for the preparation of metallographic samples. In this laboratory, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the preparation of metallographic samples for the analysis of materials on a light microscope. At the same time, there is an opportunity to realize the melting of samples on a resistive electric furnace in a protective atmosphere. It is used to solve theses and domestic and foreign projects.

Waste treatment laboratory

Description: The laboratory is designed for teaching the year-long course Nonferrous Metals. The laboratory focuses on sample preparation and processing of materials by hydrometallurgical processing methods. In this laboratory, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with recycling processes such as leaching, cementation precipitation liquid extraction, etc.
In this laboratory, laboratory exercises are conducted in the following subjects : Non-ferrous metals, Sampling methodology, Municipal waste treatment, Secondary raw materials and wastes, Industrial waste treatment.

Laboratory of classical analytical methods
Room: Main building L9/A, door number A317
Technical equipment: fume hood, electric dryer, quick levellers
Description: The laboratory is primarily intended for teaching the subject Analytical Chemistry for several study programmes of FMMR and TUKE. It is also used for teaching within bachelor and diploma practicals and for the needs of various projects. The equipment of the laboratory allows students to perform experiments of classical qualitative and quantitative analytical chemistry, which they can then apply in solving problems in the field of materials, metallurgical and environmental analyses.
